Costumes & Make Up of the Academy Awards


Program Objectives: Costumes & Make Up of the Academy Awards

  1. To enhance student interest in and knowledge about the motion picture development and production process
  2. To encourage students to use critical thinking as they learn how visual effects work
  3. To engage students in an exploration of film as an art form and a medium of communication
  4. To help students become more media literate

There are three categories of nominations below:
1. Costume Design     2. Makeup        3. Both Costume and Makeup

Directions: Review each category one at a time, and choose three movies from each of them that you are most interested in viewing. You do not have to watch the entire movie, instead you will be viewing video clips from each of them. 

1. Let me know which movies you are interested from each category in the comment box. Then I will post the video clips from them for you to work with.

Get to know 3 American notable authors
Two authors are below. Follow the links to discover what you find to be memorable about each of them. You will use HaikuDeck to create a presentation on each author about what appeals to you about them. The presentation is from your perspective. What are the take away stories, pictures, books, poems, etc. that intrigue you, are interesting, similar or just makes you go "mmm."

The third link is The 10 Best Authors of Children's Literature. Review the slide show and read the brief biography on each. Choose the one that appeals to you the most. Include that author in the HaikuDeck.

Ipadio - This is a podcast application. Download it via internet, and after you get acquainted with it, you can download app on your iPad. A podcast is a way to broadcast your thoughts, opinions, and practice hearing your voice.


Storytelling - Haikudeck is a solid app for the iPad that provides a platform for telling your story through pictures and minimal words. It's a tool for summarizing, explaining, and describing your ideas and concepts.

Photo-sharing - Check Flickr out using categories you are interested in to see the photo possibilities of picture telling. You do have to sign up with an email address.


Video presentations - This will give you the opportunity to create 30 second videos about a specific topic, issue, opinion, celebration, etc.
